The body of work has been constructed with 18 street images from within the Moss Side boundary. Moss Side is an inner-city area of Manchester, south of the city centre. Territorial stigma has led to a continuous and quiet redrawing of its boundaries, where estate agents and developers reframe its geography to distance properties from the area's racialised and working-class associations.
When viewed together, the images trace the border of the area as seen from above. Hand-painted, the red border reflects the fluid and contested nature of the area’s geography; redrawn, unstable, and negotiable.
